Staff Security Engineer in Bot Defence

Lead security initiatives at the company as a Staff Security Engineer specializing in Bot and Traffic Defence. This hybrid role focuses on safeguarding our platform from automated threats and ensuring a secure marketplace. As the first dedicated expert in this crucial domain, you will shape the technical roadmap for bot scraping and application-layer DDoS defence. This role requires hands-on experience with CDN platforms and a deep understanding of bot detection signals. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security protocols, respond to incidents, and ensure robust protection against various attack vectors. Key Responsibilities:
- Own the strategic roadmap for bot and DDoS defence
- Author and optimize edge security controls as code
- Design distributed layer 7 rate limiting mechanisms
- Lead post-incident reviews to identify systemic issues
- Create tooling and playbooks for teams to manage security
- Proven experience with edge security platforms like Cloudflare
- Strong grasp of bot detection and layer 7 security
- Familiarity with OOP languages such as Java or Python
- Experience in incident response for live traffic attacks
- Ability to translate security risks into business metrics
