Roles: Data Engineers

Location: Ottawa (on-site)

Start Date: Q3 of 2027

Contract Duration: 10 Years +

Hours: 40 hours per week

***NON-NEGOTIABLE  REQUIREMENTS:

·        Must be a Canadian Citizen

·        Must have been a resident of Canada for the last 10 consecutive years

·        Must be located in Ottawa or willing to relocate (on-site requirement)

·        Willing to go through screening process which includes, background check, credit check, and a polygraph exam

·        Proof of Education and Certifications (screenshots need to be provided of your diploma(s)/degree(s) as well as any professional certifications.

·        Must have or be eligible to obtain Top Secret Clearance prior to project start

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes

·        Implement and manage data warehousing solutions and data modeling

·        Develop and maintain data infrastructure including databases, data lakes, and data marts

·        Ensure data quality, governance, and security across all data assets

·        Optimize data processing performance and efficiency

·        Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders

·        Implement data monitoring, logging, and alerting systems

·        Develop and maintain data documentation and metadata management

·        Support data migration and integration projects

·        Implement data security measures and access controls

TASKS:

·        Design and implement data pipeline architectures using modern tools and frameworks

·        Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes for data transformation and movement

·        Create and manage data models for relational and non-relational databases

·        Set up and maintain data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)

·        Implement data quality validation and monitoring frameworks

·        Develop data governance policies and procedures

·        Optimize database performance and query efficiency

·        Implement data security measures including encryption and access controls

·        Create comprehensive data documentation and metadata repositories

·        Support data migration projects between systems

·        Develop data monitoring dashboards and alerting systems

·        Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data requirements and solutions

·        Mentor junior data engineers and provide knowledge transfer

JOB CLASSIFICATION, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Senior Data Pipeline Engineer:

·        University undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or Ten (10) years of progressive experience in IT.

·        A minimum of ten years' experience designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL processes.

·        A minimum of ten years' experience implementing data quality and governance frameworks.

·        A minimum of ten years' experience with data security and access controls.

·        A minimum of ten years' experience working with data analytics and business intelligence teams.

·        A minimum of ten years' experience with version control, CI/CD, and automation tools.

Intermediate Data Pipeline Engineer:

·        University undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or five years of progressive experience in IT.

·        A minimum of five years' experience designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL processes.

·        Experience implementing data quality and governance frameworks.

·        Experience with data security and access controls.

·        Experience working with data analytics and business intelligence teams.

·        Experience with version control, CI/CD, and automation tools.

Senior Data Warehouse Engineer

·        University undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or Ten (10) years of progressive experience in IT.

Senior Big Data Engineer

·        University undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or Ten (10) years of progressive experience in IT.

·        A minimum of ten years' experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.).

·        A minimum of ten years' experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

·        A minimum of ten years' experience with database management (SQL, NoSQL).

·        A minimum of ten years' experience implementing data quality and governance frameworks.

·        A minimum of ten years' experience with data security and access controls.

·        A minimum of ten years' experience working with data analytics and business intelligence teams.

·        A minimum of ten years' experience with version control, CI/CD, and automation tools.

Intermediate Big Data Engineer

·        University undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or

·        five years of progressive experience in IT.

·        A minimum of five years' experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.).
