Construction Superintendent

Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a Construction Superintendent to join their team on a contract opportunity in Cold Lake, AB.
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field operations across multiple active projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with project specifications. This role requires hands-on experience in road construction, liner installations, and earthworks, particularly in projects involving pump jack infrastructure and water retention systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities across multiple projects, including road construction, equipment pads, and water retention systems
- Lead site teams in the installation of liners, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards
- Oversee construction of new access roads and pads for pump jacks, including grading and base preparation
- Manage projects involving water retention systems, including mobilization and installation of liner materials
- Ensure proper selection, placement, and compaction of compatible clay for road construction and liner support
- Interpret and enforce technical requirements for liner work, including subgrade preparation, moisture conditioning, and compaction standards
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to maintain schedules and resolve on-site challenges
- Monitor productivity, costs, and quality to meet project goals
- Enforce safety regulations and ensure compliance with company and industry standards
- Conduct site inspections and maintain accurate reporting of progress and issues
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar supervisory role
- Strong background in liner installation (including water retention or containment systems)
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
- Hands-on experience in road construction, including working with compatible clay materials
- Knowledge of technical requirements for liner systems and earthworks
- Experience with projects involving pump jacks, well pads, or oil & gas infrastructure is an asset
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
