Work site environment Hog and pig farming Work setting Rural area Responsibilities: Boar semen collection Develop and guide the behaviour of farm animals Diagnose livestock health issues Handling animals Monitoring animal health Perform livestock feeding Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration Track and report on current feed inventory Treat livestock health issues Weaning Feed and tend animals Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures Maintain financial and production records Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed Formulate feeding program Maintain livestock performance records Maintain quality control and production records Select livestock for sale Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens Maintain work records and logs Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry Perform general farm duties Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops Supervision 5-10 people Experience and specialization Equipment and machinery experience Automated manure handling or storage system Feeding and watering system Tractor Loader Hand tools Automated systems experience Bulk grain or feed handling - automated Automated environmental control equipment Manure handling and storage Area of specialization Swine Additional information Transportation/travel information Valid driver's licence Work conditions and physical capabilities Ability to work independently Fast-paced environment Work under pressure Tight deadlines Physically demanding Repetitive Attention to detail Handling heavy loads Combination of sitting, standing, walking Large workload Bending, crouching, kneeling Personal suitability Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Organized Team player Efficient interpersonal skills Flexibility Judgement Reliability Quick learner Benefits Health benefits Dental plan Health care plan Until: 2025-12-22
