In your role as Legal Counsel at Scotiabank, you will provide essential legal guidance on litigation to various stakeholders across the Bank and its subsidiaries. You will cultivate strong relationships with business units and ensure that all litigation activities align with the Bank's compliance obligations. Your focus on operational efficiency will be integral to navigating both regulatory and conduct risks effectively. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide litigation counsel to internal stakeholders
- Manage all civil litigation matters against the Bank
- Direct external legal counsel on case management
- Participate in mediations representing the Bank’s interests
- Carry out internal investigations related to legal issues
- Graduate of a recognized law school with 3-5 years of practice
- Valid membership in a Canadian Law Society
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Effective problem-solving proficiency
- Previous experience in banking litigation preferred
