Senior Engineer for Hydropower Structures
Barr Engineering Co.
Barr is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer with a hydropower focus for our Calgary or Saskatoon team. This hybrid role involves structural engineering expertise in dam projects and flood control. You will support multidisciplinary teams in executing structural analysis and design projects for hydraulic structures. With 10+ years of consulting experience, you’ll lead project execution, maintain client relationships, and conduct essential safety reviews. Your efforts will ensure the integrity of critical hydropower infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage structural analysis and design for hydraulic structures
- Lead and coordinate project execution and planning
- Conduct dam safety audits and client inspections
- Develop strong client ties in hydropower and flood control
- Provide regular project updates to clients and managers
- Bachelor’s in structural/civil engineering required
- Minimum of 10 years relevant engineering experience
- Active Professional Engineer certification needed
- Skilled in AutoCAD or Revit and engineering software
- Familiarity with dam safety guidelines and practices
