Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a term Welding Instructor. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale, ranging from $37.55 to $53.81 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits plan.

Duties: The instructor will teach various levels in the Welding program and is responsible for ensuring student success. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. In addition, the instructor will oversee and ensure shop safety, complete the related administrative, record keeping and monitoring activities as well as other related duties as required.

Courses will commence October 5, 2026 and end May 14, 2027 and include up to 840 instructional hours.

Qualifications

Qualifications: An Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement and Grade 12 or equivalent. Experience should include a minimum of 5 years of varied field experience as a Journeyperson and 5 years in a supervisory capacity. A Provincial Instructor Diploma or other relevant teaching certification and experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required skills/abilities include:

  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to inspire and mentor learners of all ages
  • Knowledge and passion for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Effective cross-cultural communication skills, particularly with the Indigenous communities
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and accurately in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills
  • Intermediate computer skills (word processing, Excel, email)
