AI and Data - Senior Consultant - Data Scientist

The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Consultant, Data Science & ML Engineering to join our Data & Analytics team. The role involves building an expanding set of Managed Data Science and Agentic AI services across multiple industries.
Responsibilities
The role will proactively identify and prioritize use cases across value chains, leverage AI and Machine Learning techniques, build, validate, deploy, and monitor advanced descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics solutions. The role will coach the data engineer and data science team to deliver services and develop solutions with a business mindset.
- Collaborate with clients to understand needs and guide them toward building AI and Machine Learning solutions, delivering short‑term wins while identifying long‑term opportunities for managed data science services.
- Build and deliver the roadmap to develop and implement AI/ML products with a team of data scientists, data engineers, and product owners.
- Build, validate, deploy, monitor, and provide MLOps support for a set of AI/ML models and services for both internal POCs and client production initiatives.
- Leverage commercial and open‑source AI, Machine Learning, Big Data ecosystem tools, BI, visualization, and discovery tools to deliver advanced models and other Data Science solutions.
- Guide clients in selecting generative AI models and related services suitable for their needs.
- Assist with AI governance topics such as data residency and PII handling.
- Proactively monitor and tune AI/ML model performance, manage champion/challenger models to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.
- Ensure all AI/ML models are properly packaged and documented for deployment and participate in client training and knowledge transfer as required.
- Ensure all solutions comply with the highest levels of security, privacy, and data governance requirements as outlined by EY and client guidelines.
- Effectively leverage continuous integration, continuous development, and continuous deployment agile and DevOps tools and processes to deliver and support advanced Data Science and Big Data solutions.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, Economics/Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
- 3+ years of extensive experience building and deploying end‑to‑end data science and analytics solutions in various industries with business acumen.
- Proficiency in the predictive modeling lifecycle and best practices for feature engineering, model development, tuning, validation, packaging, management, and performance monitoring.
- Data Scientist certification, including Hadoop, Spark or equivalent production experience.
- Experience with Open‑source AI/Machine Learning/Data Science tools – R, Python, Spark – and notebooks (Zeppelin, Jupyter) and workbenches (Azure, DSX).
- Experience with Spark‑based machine learning, including Spark SQL, ML, MlLib, GraphX.
- Experience with agentic AI solution deployments.
Ideal Qualifications
- Data Science or AI certification on major platforms.
- Experience with deep learning on CPUs and GPUs, including ANN, CNN, RNN frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras, MXNet or equivalent.

- The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $85,000 to $120,000, with individual salaries determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and work location.
