Position: Casual Security Guard
Site: Various Sites in Niagara Region (Niagara Falls, Welland, Thorold, St. Catharines, Fort Erie, etc.)
Hours: Various Hours (Continental, Rotating shifts)
Payrate: $18.35 (Varies from site to site)
Posting Date: September 11th, 2026
External Closing Date: October 9th, 2026
Position Description: As a casual guard, you will be required to work across multiple sites within the Niagara region, including healthcare sites. Minimum requirement per month is 4 shifts.
Key responsibilities:
- Patient Watch and Observation: Provide continuous observation of patients identified as requiring supervision due to medical, behavioral, or safety concerns. Maintain a safe environment, monitor patient activity, and promptly report any changes in behavior or condition to hospital staff.
- Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats.
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.
- Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
Prerequisites:
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
- Covid Vaccine two doses
- Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
- Valid G class Driver License with last 3 years of Clean Abstract as asset
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
