Location: Kootenay Discovery School (located within the Fernie Learning Campus), Fernie, BC

Contract Type: Part-time Continuing (0.10 FTE)

Salary Range: The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $7,039 to $11,918, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Association and School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay).

-Preference will be given to applicants with BC Teacher Certification.

-Must have a degree/formal training and/or teaching experience in subjects and at a level specific to each
posting.

Job Summary:

Online Humanities Teacher - Grades 10-12

0.10 FTE continuing contract, starting September 8, 2026 or upon completion of the posting process.

Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching experience in Humanities at the Secondary level. Must have a degree/formal training and or teaching experience with Online Teaching.

Requires demonstrated proficiency in online teaching and high school humanities, including English Language Arts and Social Studies. Candidates must be highly proficient with Microsoft 365 and Learning Management Systems, particularly Brightspace. Experience with video conferencing platforms, digital organization and communication tools, and effective online assessment practices is essential.

This position will have a home base of Kootenay Discovery School in the community of Fernie. This is a distance learning school. The schedule for this position is still to be determined. Please note that all work will be on-site.
