Media Director (Mississauga)

The Media Director will actively work with Clients, Agency Account Staff, Creative Teams and their staff. The Media Director is responsible for the strategy, buying, implementation, and tracking of media plans, ensuring the productivity and efficacy of campaigns.
Reporting to the Head of Media they will oversee media planning and implementation across all accounts.
This role will involve pace-setting management, constant collaboration across multiple departments, people management, and crucial client-facing moments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an understanding of business goals and marketing objectives, helping to translate into media objectives/strategies.
- Build and cultivate internal and external relationships through regular and clear communications.
- Be an active participant in pitching new business and presenting to clients with expectation to grow their accounts.
- Produce and deliver presentations to clients and internal agency staff.
- Understand all media channels, traditional, digital and emerging channels.
- Provide consultative media solutions and insights as required.
- Seek to find innovative ways to implement media to deliver the unexpected.
- Stay abreast of new media innovations and bring ideas on how best to put into practice.
- Initiate and manage partnerships with emerging media platforms and technology vendors to gain early access to innovative advertising solutions.
- Improve strategies for paid media clients that result in the client exceeding their goals.
- Understand changes to the marketplace and industry, adjusting client paid media strategies accordingly.
- Oversee execution of media plans including channel optimizations.
- Conduct regular market analysis and competitive research to identify trends and opportunities for client campaigns.
- Implement comprehensive performance tracking and data analysis systems to continuously evaluate and enhance the ROI of media campaigns.
- Mentor and develop a high‑performing team of performance marketers across multiple regions.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging experimentation with new media platforms, technologies, and methodologies.
- Create and maintain comprehensive training programs for team members, focusing on continuous career development and skill building.
- Oversee department budget, including staffing and resource requirements like capacity planning and maintaining healthy margins.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, suppliers, and agency partners.
- Engage actively in industry events and conferences to represent the agency and stay abreast of industry developments.
- Have a strong working knowledge of agency and industry systems and tools.
Qualifications
- 8‑10+ years of experience working in media across all channels (search, social, programmatic, retail media, video, etc.).
- 6+ years’ experience in managing a team of performance marketers and planners, preferably at an agency.
- Experience managing and planning multi‑channel media for large budgets.
- In‑depth experience executing full‑funnel campaigns of varying objectives (i.e., awareness, prospecting, retargeting, acquisition, etc.).
- Ability to understand the details of client goals and be able to translate them into broader strategic campaigns for leadership and the greater team.
- Clear communicator with strategic insights and the ability to create buy‑in across the organization.
- Digitally savvy: uses digital and social media, demonstrates passion about emerging media, Google Analytics, ability to search and research topics, etc.
- Solid communication skills both written and presenting.
