A consistent schedule will be developed in collaboration with operational needs.About The Charitable Donations Pickup Driver RoleReporting to the Operations Manager, this critical role will work up to 29 hours per week, driving established routes to collect donated clothing and household items from our valued customers’ homes and our designated charity donations bins – and deliver these items to our Corporate Partners and storage facilities.Highlights Of The Role IncludeTo understand and promote the mission of the National Diabetes Trust to the general public and to all volunteersHas a thorough knowledge of the organization goals and objectives, services, programs, and organizational structure at all levelsAlways operate vehicles in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and in a safe and responsible mannerConduct ‘pre’ and ‘post’ trip inspectionsComplete and submit the appropriate paperwork dailyComplete the Hours-of-Service Logs and associated paperwork and submit dailyAlways carry, proof of valid driver’s license, valid plate permit registration, a copy of the Commercial Vehicle Operator Registration/National Safety Code Registration documentation and the associated vehicle inspection and Hours of Service documentationCheck in with dispatch at beginning, mid-day, and end of scheduled routeProvide an appropriate message card to each donorComplete and properly log all assigned pick upsUnload merchandise as instructedReturn all equipment to the office at the end of each dayReport route discrepancies with the dispatchEnsure that only authorized personnel ride inside the truckParticipate in all required driving related NDT education, initiatives, directives, and proceduresAdditional duties as required ensuring the effective function of Operations About YouGrade 12 Education or equivalent experienceAbility to read mapsAbility to handle 10-50 lbs. loadsAbility to drive a 3-Ton (16 foot) straight truckStrong organizational skills, ability to map routes for efficient pickupAbility to project a positive business-like image to the publicAbility to communicate effectively with a wide variety of peopleAbility to provide calm assistance to upset clientsAbility to maintain public relations type attitude even during stressful situationsAbility to understand and follow written or verbal instructionsGood command of the English languageSuperior customer service skillsMust have Full Class 5 and / or G license or higher, passenger car or light truckMust have a minimum of 5 years actual driving experience at the above level. 2 years if the driver has received professional commercial vehicle trainingMust have a clean driver abstract, less than 21 days old, with no violations or accidents within the last 3 yearsDiversity, Equity and Inclusion StatementAt National Diabetes Trust, we are guided by our values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect.
