English teacher

Opikawa welcomes young people from more than twenty countries every summer to experience French or English immersion at summer camp. We are looking for teachers for the second-language courses offered to campers.

Responsabilités

1. Teaching and pedagogy

• Teach the language in an interactive and engaging way to camp children, using teaching techniques appropriate to their age and skill level.
• Develop and implement a language curriculum tailored to the goals and needs of camp children.
• Organize language practice activities, such as role-playing, small-group conversations, songs and talking games.
• Encourage active and collaborative learning by proposing projects and activities that allow children to work together and express themselves in a foreign language.

2. Monitoring and evaluating learning

• Monitor and evaluate student progress.
• Provide feedback and advice to help them improve their foreign language comprehension and expression.

3. Management and communication

• Manage the administrative aspects of teaching, such as preparing course documents, managing timetables and organizing classroom space.
• Communicate professionally with parents and other camp staff to ensure effective follow-up of children's learning.

4. Camp life and activity support

• Participate in team meetings.
• Participate in camp life.
• Perform related tasks to ensure the smooth operation of Base de Plein Air Mont-Tremblant, Aquabounga and Rouge et Diable (maintenance, preparation of special projects, animation support) as needed, during working hours.

Profil

Qualifications

• Study in a university program related to teaching
• Experience in teaching and pedagogy with young people
• Relevant experience in animation, summer camp or day camp
• Interest in working with children
• Up-to-date first aid and CPR certification (an asset)
• DAFA certification or PAM training (an asset)
