Job Responsibility:
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Scale/Gravel Attendant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the weigh scale, recording weights of incoming and outgoing materials, and ensuring accurate data entry and customer service.. For Gravel Mart, In this role, you will assist customers with their landscaping and construction material needs, operate equipment, and maintain a clean and organized yard.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move packages and materials safely.
- Assist in the shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory control.
- Perform order picking tasks using a warehouse management system to fulfill customer orders efficiently.
- Utilize basic math skills to verify quantities and manage stock levels effectively.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational goals and deadlines.
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Load and unload materials such as gravel, sand, soil, and mulch
- Operate equipment such as skid steers, loaders, and forklifts (training provided if necessary)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard and inventory
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages
- Handle cash, debit, and credit transactions accurately
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Skills
- Familiarity with warehouse distribution processes and shipping/receiving procedures.
- Experience with AS400 or similar warehouse management systems is a plus.
- Strong basic math skills for accurate inventory management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Previous experience in a yard, construction, or retail environment is an asset
- Ability to operate or learn to operate heavy equipment
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Valid driver's license is an asset
Work Conditions:
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Seasonal peaks may require extended hours
