VP, Property Management

Paramount Management, part of the DEXEL family of companies, is seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President, Property Management to join its executive leadership team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this is a unique opportunity to lead a growing real estate portfolio while helping shape the next chapter of one of Atlantic Canada's most respected property management organizations.

For more than 50 years, the Lawen Group has built and managed exceptional communities throughout Halifax. Today, Paramount manages approximately 2,000 residential units and 300,000 square feet of commercial space across the Halifax Regional Municipality, with significant growth planned through new developments and strategic expansion initiatives.

The Opportunity

As Vice President, Property Management, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the entire property management platform, including residential operations, leasing, maintenance, commercial property management, resident experience, and portfolio performance.

This role will play a key leadership role in the lease-up and stabilization of Spring Garden West , a landmark mixed-use development that represents one of the most significant projects in Halifax's urban core.

You will lead through a team of senior leaders and managers while maintaining a visible presence throughout the portfolio, building strong relationships with employees, residents, tenants, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Leadership & Operations

• Provide executive leadership across residential and commercial property operations.
• Drive portfolio performance through strong operational standards, occupancy growth, resident retention, and service excellence.
• Ensure successful integration and stabilization of newly completed developments.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.

Leasing & Revenue Growth

• Lead leasing strategy, pricing, market positioning, and renewal programs.
• Partner with leasing leadership to maximize occupancy and revenue performance.
• Monitor market trends and competitive conditions to support growth objectives.
• Enhance the customer journey from prospect to long-term resident.

Resident & Tenant Experience

• Champion a service-first culture and a hospitality-calibre resident experience.
• Establish measurable standards that improve satisfaction, retention, and long-term loyalty.
• Foster an employee experience that drives engagement, performance, and service excellence.
• Ensure residents and commercial tenants receive consistently exceptional service.

Maintenance & Operational Excellence

• Oversee maintenance operations, vendor relationships, service delivery, and operational contracts.
• Support the continued evolution of the Maintenance, Operations & Assets (MOA) function.
• Ensure systems, processes, and operational standards support portfolio performance and growth.

Financial Leadership

• Maintain full accountability for the operating performance of the management platform.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Drive improvements in NOI, occupancy, operating margins, renewal rates, and turnover costs.
• Partner with executive leadership on capital planning and investment priorities.

Executive Leadership

• Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team.
• Contribute to strategic planning, organizational growth, and operating model development.
• Partner closely with Development, Design & Construction, Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Marketing teams.
• Help shape the future direction of Paramount as the portfolio continues to expand.

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within multi-residential, mixed-use, commercial, or large-scale real estate operations.
• Experience leading a residential portfolio of approximately 2,000 units or greater.
• Demonstrated success with full P&L responsibility and portfolio financial performance.
• Proven experience leading major lease-up and stabilization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of property operations, leasing, maintenance management, and customer experience.
• Track record of leading, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams.
• Strong financial and analytical capabilities including budgeting, forecasting, and operational analysis.
• Experience leading organizational change, operating model evolution, or significant portfolio growth.
• Comfortable leveraging technology, artificial intelligence, and data-driven decision making to improve operational performance and customer outcomes.
• Experience with Yardi or comparable property management platforms.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Competitive base salary of $175,000-$200,000
