As a Area Manager , you will be the senior operational and strategic leader responsible for the overall performance of a major TransLink account spanning multiple physical locations . You will own the client relationship, financial performance, contract delivery, operational excellence, and long-term growth of the account while providing direct leadership and oversight to the site management team.

This role requires a highly visible and engaged leader who can balance strategic account management with hands-on operational leadership across multiple sites. You will work closely with site managers, supervisors, team leads, frontline employees, and internal Dexterra stakeholders to ensure consistent service delivery, financial performance, employee engagement, and client satisfaction across the account.

You will serve as the primary senior point of contact for the client, while maintaining oversight of the physical locations, operational standards, workforce performance, and leadership teams responsible for day-to-day service delivery.

Your work will include:

• Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and on-site presence.
• Embed client retention practices using the Tenacity Client for Life approach.
• Align key stakeholders through a structured Web of Influence to drive collaboration.
• Act as a strategic advisor, delivering value-added solutions and anticipating client needs.
• Drive revenue growth, profitability, and operational excellence across multiple accounts.
• Ensure contract compliance and high service standards through performance oversight.
• Partner with internal teams to meet financial and service delivery targets.
• Communicate clear expectations and develop high-performing teams through coaching and feedback.
• Promote Dexterra’s culture, Vision, and Values in daily operations.
• Identify and pursue organic growth and new business opportunities using Miller Heiman methodology.
• Support bid development with insights into client needs and industry trends.
• Plan staffing resources, coach service teams, and drive continuous improvement.
• Champion safety and uphold Dexterra’s quality standards.
• Recruit, train, and position the right talent to meet operational demands effectively.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Post-secondary education from an accredited university or college in Business Administration, Facilities Management, Operations Management, or a related field is considered an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of management experience directing teams within facilities management, janitorial services, building services, operations, or a related service environment.
• Proven experience managing multi-site operations , preferably within a large, complex, unionized, public sector, municipal, transit, or similar environment.
• Proven experience managing janitorial or facilities services, with experience in transit, municipal, government, hospitality, or other complex operational environments considered an asset.
• Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and operational service contracts.
• Experience with financial management, budgeting, forecasting, P&L accountability, and cost control.
• Proven experience recruiting, training, developing, retaining, and managing the performance of employees and leadership teams.
• Experience managing labour relations, including unionized environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead managers, supervisors, team leads, and frontline employees across multiple locations.
• Strong understanding of operational standards, quality assurance, health and safety requirements, and service delivery practices.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to understand operational and financial data and translate it into actionable improvements.
• Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, employees, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to travel regularly between multiple physical work sites and attend client meetings as required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other business software applications.
• Experience using mobile or hand-held technology for operational reporting and communication is considered an asset.
• Must successfully complete a criminal record check.
