Nanny Wanted - Calgary, Alberta Nanny Needed $25/Hourly Rate

We’re a little family of three plus two dogs. We are looking for a live-out nanny for our son, River (currently 4 months old) to start on January 12, 2026. We have two French bulldogs. We are both physicians and have lived in Calgary for 9 years now. We live in Rosscarrock in a comfortable new infill with a small yard. We are both non smokers. Some musts that we’re looking for in a candidate includes non-smoker, having prior experience with babies of his age, having your own vehicle for transportation to and from our house, having baby/child first aid and CPR training, having some form training or formal education in early childhood education and be willing to get immunizations for influenza and Covid boosters in the fall to protect our son. (Being able to provide proof of measles immunization would be ideal). Being very comfortable around dogs is an absolute must for this position. Finally, as we are hoping this be a long term commitment (until beyond starting elementary school), it is important to us that nannying/child care is a long term career of the candidate. About the position: We are looking for a nanny to be a part of our family and who would want to be a long term part of our (especially River’s) lives. We want someone who is going to love and care for our son like their own family member. We value someone with early childhood education with experience and a passion for this area of work. We believe a nanny is so much more than someone who “watches/babysits” our child. Our expectation for the position is that your priority be caring for River. Housework and meal prepping during his naps would be an added bonus for us but not totally necessary (this can be further discussed). Your day to day tasks will of course evolve with River as he ages, however initially will be feeding, changing his diaper, playing with him, taking him on walks, and putting him down for naps. The dogs are pretty low maintenance and we don’t expect you to do much for them. One of the dog has some issues with reactivity which is why being very comfortable around dogs is important. The only duties involving the dogs will be letting them out in and out of the yard. About the hours: This is a full time position, with some flexibility. We both work somewhere between part-time to full-time hours, depending on the week. During business hours, my husband works Monday-Wednesday from ~7am until 4-5pm with the occasional extra shift here and there. I work 3-5 days a week depending on the week with no fixed days from ~7am until 4-5pm. I return to work on January 12, 2026. We would need a 7am start time until 4-5pm for at least three weekdays (likely Mon-Tue-Wed) and other two weekdays can be more flexible (or can be the same schedule if this is your preference). We don’t currently envision any evenings or weekends as we will work our schedules to not have overlapping call or shifts, however we may ask this of you but it would at your discretion and would be known well ahead of time. Logistics: For salary, we suggest a starting salary of 25$/hr with the potential to increase with time. We think a short paid trial period (prior to January 12, ideally in November or December) would be best to ensure we all feel it is a good fit, and we can work this around your current employment as you feel works best for you.
