Overview
Calgary, AB – The Cahill Group is recruiting a HSE Advisor to join our QHSE team in Calgary, AB. As a HSE Advisor, you play a pivotal role in promoting a positive HSE culture within the office and on project sites. You will develop, coordinate, and conduct HSE training and orientations for new staff, including tradespeople and contractors on project sites to ensure HSE policies and regulations are understood and followed. You will facilitate incident investigations and coordinate follow-ups with personnel, while ensuring all documentation is maintained and communicated to applicable parties.
What will you do?
- Assists with revising HSE Management system as required.
- Ensures the formation and regular meetings of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee in consultation with the Project Line Management Team.
- Conducts, coordinates and maintains HSE training and orientations for office staff and tradespeople when required to ensure OH&S Acts and Regulations are understood, followed and up to date.
- Develops and facilitates required training programs specific to work sites in consultation with training coordinator.
- Facilitates incident investigations in consultation with Project Line Management Team and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
- Conducts follow-up on incident reports, corrective actions, and site inspection findings. Ensures documentation is maintained and all reports are forwarded to Corporate HSE Department.
- Liaises with Government OH&S representatives during site visits and with corporate HSE on claims management and relevant issues.
- Coordinates and performs follow-up with injured personnel to ensure early and safe return to work initiatives are implemented and communicated to Corporate HSE Department.
- Documents safety performance through HSE daily reports for the project and Corporate HSE Department.
- Ensures all safety documentation and forms being used are the most current, corporate approved, and the information contained within is accurate, complete and forwarded accordingly to Corporate HSE Department.
- Ensures PPE specifications are met and is being managed cost effectively based on hazard and scope.
- Travel to project sites as required.
What will you bring?
- 5 years of safety experience in an industrial construction environment is required.
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Health and Safety Management from a recognized post-secondary institution, or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
- CRSP, NCSO or other professional designation would be considered an asset.
- A thorough understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations would be considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Positive, collaborative work style and the ability to work well within a multi-discipline team.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
