Job Title: Service Owner
Location: Hybrid – Edmonton, AB, Canada
Duration: 12 Months
Work Type: Part‑Time (20 Hours per Week)
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays)
- Flexible/negotiable schedule
- Occasional availability required for in‑office meetings
- Primarily remote with periodic onsite presence in Edmonton
Job Summary
The Service Owner is responsible for delivering and continuously improving services by working closely with program areas, delivery teams, vendors, and stakeholders. This role is hands‑on and embedded within service delivery, contributing directly to analysis, solution design, issue resolution, and execution of day‑to‑day activities. The Service Owner combines business, technical, and user‑centered expertise to ensure services are productive, compliant, secure, and aligned with user and organizational needs. The role also involves applying modern delivery practices such as Agile and DevOps to support high‑quality service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of service delivery, ensuring alignment with policy, security, and user requirements
- Define service vision, priorities, and measurable outcomes
- Manage contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs), including amendments, renewals, and expirations
- Lead end‑to‑end RFP processes, including requirements gathering, evaluation, and contract award
- Oversee multiple vendors and ensure accountability for deliverables, timelines, and service levels
- Review and validate vendor invoices and manage payments through ERP systems (e.g., SAP or similar)
- Drive vendor performance management and implement corrective actions when necessaryIdentify cost optimization opportunities and improve vendor value
- Support compliance activities (e.g., PCI), including reporting, audits, and remediation
- Use performance data and user feedback to drive continuous service improvement
- Collaborate with Agile teams to plan, prioritize, and deliver service enhancements
- Contribute to documentation, reporting, and decision‑making processes
Required Qualifications (Must Have)
- 7+ years of experience managing full lifecycle of contracts and Statements of Work (SOWs)
- 7+ years of experience managing vendor relationships, deliverables, and performance
- 4+ years of experience reviewing vendor invoices and processing payments using SAP or similar ERP systems
- 7+ years of experience using performance data or user feedback to drive service improvements
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience working in large‑scale government or similar environments
- 7+ years of experience leading end‑to‑end RFP processes
- 7+ years of experience managing service delivery in Agile environments
- Experience supporting or leading PCI compliance activities
- Experience defining audit requirements and implementing compliance remediation actions
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience preferred
