Senior Application Developer – AS400
A senior AS400/I-series developer will act as a development specialist responsible for managing, developing, securing and maintaining applications on AS400 systems. The role involves collaborating closely with product and other team members to deliver solutions that meet client needs and drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the product team to translate customer requirements into functional solutions.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver outcomes that translate business needs into technical outcomes.
- Challenge the status quo, uncover defects and deficiencies, and find ways to improve operational delivery.
Must Have Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience on AS400.
- Experience with RPG/LE, COBOL/400, SQL, Query/400, QM Query, ASC Sequel, CLP/CLLE, MQ, Data queue, JIRA, Service Now, SFTP, IFS, DB2/400, TAATOOL, RDI, and Arcad.
- Experience with Waterfall, Agile, or Scrum methodologies and knowledge of JIRA.
- Ability to solve problems independently and creatively.
- Experience in problem analysis, data mapping, use case modeling, and documentation.
- Commitment to deliver high‑quality customer service and products.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and take initiative.
Nice to Have
- Banking experience working as an application developer.
Additional Information
The role is part of the Direct Financial Services – Simplii Line of Business and will support regulatory initiatives and modernization projects. The position is a 6‑month contract with potential extension, but not conversion to full‑time employment. The office is located at 81 Bay Street (CIBC Square) with a hybrid work model (3 days onsite, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday).
