$140k - $190k per yearGlobal Relay
Who we are:
For over 25 years, Global Relay has set the standard in enterprise information archiving with industry-leading cloud archiving, surveillance, eDiscovery, and analytics solutions. We securely capture and preserve the communications data of the world’s most highly regulated firms, giving them greater visibility and control over their information and ensuring compliance with stringent regulations.
Though we offer competitive compensation and benefits and all the other perks one would expect from an established company, we are not your typical technology company. Global Relay is a career-building company. A place for big ideas. New challenges. Groundbreaking innovation. It’s a place where you can genuinely make an impact – and be recognized for it.
We believe great businesses thrive on diversity, inclusion, and the contributions of all employees. To that end, we recruit candidates from different backgrounds and foster a work environment that encourages employees to collaborate and learn from each other, completely free of barriers.
Your role:
Reporting to the VP Finance, you have a leading role in the Finance & Accounting team and are responsible for the oversight of Global Relay’s financial reporting, receivables and revenue operations, and payroll functions. This role ensures effective management and oversight of these financial operations that support enterprise-wide initiatives with a focus on being a proactive and responsible business partner in a high growth environment. You work alongside the Director, Finance Operations who primarily oversees accounts payable, procurement, and travel. Both the Director, Finance and the Director, Finance Operations have shared ownership of the treasury and forecasting functions of Global Relay given the highly integrated nature of these functions. You will work together to drive efficiency and scale, strengthen internal controls, and align financial operations within Global Relay’s broader strategic and fiscal objectives. As a senior leadership role, you will also support ad hoc strategic initiatives as required.
This role is a maternity leave cover for our existing Director, Finance; however, we are seeking candidates with strong long-term fit with Global Relay.
Your responsibilities:

- Own the oversight and integration of your managed functions (Financial Reporting, Receivables & Revenue, Payroll) within budgeting and forecasting processes
- Drive cost optimization and process efficiency across all financial operations

- Own the integrity and quality of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement and reporting packages, ensuring stakeholder needs are consistently met and financial data quality supports informed decision-making
- Establish and maintain a robust control framework to ensure financial transactions are captured timely and accurately
- Champion a culture of process excellence, focused on continuous improvement and working to continually reduce month end and reporting cycle times
- Drive accountability for financial analyses, helping define and monitor Key Performance Indicators and ensuring that financial insights are delivered on a reliable cadence and meet internal and external needs
- Serve as the senior management liaison for consolidated and local statutory financial statement audits
- Oversee a growing portfolio of local statutory financial statement reporting requirements around the world (e.g. USA, UK, Sweden, Spain, Singapore, Australia, China), working with internal teams and external service providers to ensure highly accurate and timely preparation of financial information
- Coordinate the timely and accurate responses to ad hoc data requests from management, customers, auditors, regulatory authorities, and government agencies
- Build and develop a high-performing financial reporting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, mentorship, and professional growth
- Receivables & Revenue
- Lead the end-to-end billing and accounts receivable function, working with Receivables and Revenue management to establish scalable processes and internal controls that ensure accurate, timely invoicing and revenue recognition in a growing business
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior cross-functional team members on complex enterprise deals and strategic partnerships, providing guidance on billing structures, revenue implications, and non-standard terms to optimize deal outcomes and mitigate risk
- Oversee collections strategy and cash flow optimization, focusing on robust dunning processes, monitoring collections performance against targets, and timely response to escalated matters
- Champion continuous improvement and system transformation initiatives, partnering with cross-functional leaders to identify opportunities, implement process enhancements, and leverage technology to drive operational efficiency and scalability across the billing function
- Establish and oversee the bad debt provision framework and high-risk account management strategy, including the timely identification of at-risk accounts and proactive mitigation measures to minimize write-offs while preserving customer relationships
- Payroll
- Provide strategic oversight of the payroll function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing across all jurisdictions while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties and internal controls
- Oversee payroll compliance and risk management, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements across all regions (e.g., Canada, US, UK, Sweden, Spain, Singapore, Switzerland, Australia), including tax filings, benefits administration, and year-end reporting obligations
- Partner with the Senior Manager, Payroll to drive process improvements and system enhancements, identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and strengthened controls within the payroll function
- Serve as a resource and escalation point for complex and non-routine payroll matters, providing guidance on unusual compensation scenarios, regulatory changes, cross-border considerations, and exceptions handling to ensure appropriate resolution and compliance
- Partner with Sales Operations to provide financial oversight and validation of sales commission calculations, ensuring accuracy, policy compliance, and timely payout
- Other
- Collaborate alongside other finance management to ensure appropriate cash management and liquidity needs to ensure adequate runway for operational and strategic needs
- Support the Accounts Payable and Treasury functions with day-to-day banking matters as necessary, including, but not limited to, fund movement and payment review and approval
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives – both within and outside of Finance & Accounting – as required given the scope of duties within this role
