As a DRC Supervisor: Under the direction of the Regional Distribution Manager, the Distribution Supervisor provides excellent service to customers/donors by coordinating logistics and distribution activities for the NRO Thrift Stores and Donor Welcome Centres. Responsible for the management and flow of resources from origin to destination through the integration of trucking and warehousing, and coordinating the storage and movement of product through established distribution processes while adhering to organizational policies and CVOR requirements .

Specific Duties

The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehousing & trucking operations, ensuring products are appropriately received, stored, and distributed efficiently and effectively through supervising staff, controlling inventory, planning logistics, continuous process improvement, as well as collaborating effectively with the Distribution Manager while operating under Health & Safety policies & procedures.

Accountabilities

• Maintain accurate inventory supply for Stores & adjust appropriately
• Contact, arrange, and organize product for third party vendors/recyclers as required and needed/planned
• Plan & dispatch outgoing store product daily
• Receive Corps donations and complete necessary paperwork
• Receive off season product from stores and maintain accurate inventory
• Receive store fixtures and maintain accurate inventory
• Receive, count, and organize bale and ragout from stores and ensure processing
• Communicate & collaborate with Retail District Manager and other departments including external vendors to align activities with overall business objectives
• Hold and host daily team huddles to set daily team expectations and goals
• Guide donors and handle any inquiries on Donor Welcome Centre matters
• Prepare, distribute and file daily inspection sheets. Notify Manager of any equipment needing repair
• Prepare and send regular reports on distribution activities, sales, inventory, and performance
• Delegate and supervise the daily activities of employees and performance evaluate, when necessary
• Ensure production, quality, health & safety standards are met on a daily basis
• Ensure compliance with company standards and regulations, including health and safety guidelines
• Address employee concerns through effective management and transparent communication
• With consultation of the Distribution Manager, perform coaching and disciplinary measures with employees
• Work with Distribution manager to manage and schedule employee vacations based on operational needs
• Monitor levels of product commodities and work in conjunction with Distribution Manager
• ensure movement of product in a timely manner
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and improve overall distribution operations
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

• Intermittent exposure to varying changes of heat or cold dependent on seasonal variances. Intermittent exposure to moderate fumes
• Constant attention to perform job safety is required
• Predetermined deadlines must be met. Responsible for effectiveness of multiple functions (e.g., dock area, ordering function, sorting and packing functions)
• Work requires long periods of repetitious tasks
• Substantial physical exertion is required for lifting and movement of heavy boxes and furniture, and operation of some equipment.
• Constant high level of lifting, standing, walking, bending, and twisting.

Education and experience Qualifications:

• Two to five years' supervisory experience within trucking field
• Possess a valid driver's license with a clean drivers abstract

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent with Licensed Forklift Operator certification

Skills and Capabilities:

• Proven interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Licensed forklift operator (for some positions/locations).
• Active Driver's license and clear driver's abstract is required.
• Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis with assistance, 30 lbs on a frequent basis, which includes bending, twisting, pulling, pushing of product.
