We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join our Athabasca OSB Division, located in Slave Lake, Alberta. This state-of-the-art facility has the longest continuous press in North America , giving us the ability to produce a diverse range of innovative products for customers around the world.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

Experience in leading the organization and supervision of technical aspects of process improvements, technology, research and development .
Demonstrated knowledge of OSB/EWP (Engineered Wood Products) manufacturing processes .
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills .
Commitment to safety.
Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
Strong statistical knowledge and computer literacy.
Degree or diploma in Wood Science, Forestry , Engineering, or a related technical field.

In this role, you will:

Lead with a strong focus on safety .
Serve as an active member of both the site Leadership Team and the Tolko Product Quality & Technical Group .
Provide feedback and support to our Process Specialists/Engineers .
Assist in the development and improvement of products and processes .
Works with the Product Quality & Technical Group on the deployment, ongoing execution, and continuous improvement of the Tolko Quality Management System (TQM 9000) at site.
Lead and resolve quality issues within areas of responsibility, ensuring alignment with production goals and safety standards.
Investigate site related customer claims & complaints and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Stay on top of new industry developments and standards in technology and customer satisfaction in order to recommend, plan, and organize actions that will keep the mill current.
Interact with our Sales and Production teams and keep the product cost model current.
Use your knowledge of code requirements, third-party testing agencies and experience in statistical process control to plan, organize and implement resin or mill trials .

You’ll earn a competitive salary based on your skills and experience. The expected base salary range for this position is $102,000 to $136,000 per year .
You'll earn an additional northern allowance on top of your base pay.
