It was 1988 when Joseph Shannon purchased Breton Bay nursing home, sight unseen. A 264 bed nursing home, Breton Bay had many challenges and Mr. Shannon saw the opportunity to change the way people live in long term care. His deep commitment to quality of care and quality of service transformed Breton Bay and started the Shannon family on a path of improving lives for seniors.

What started with one nursing home has grown to be a full continuum of services operated by Shannex in Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Home Care, Retirement Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Long Term Care are all services offered by Shannex in a number of communities.
