The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) is a national non-profit organization that has been promoting green building and sustainable community development practices across Canada since 2002. It is the official license holder of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system in Canada. Additionally, in 2017, the organization launched the country's first Zero Carbon Building Standard. CaGBC collaborates with Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) to speed up green building market transformation through various sustainability initiatives such as the WELL Building Standard, Parksmart, and more. More than 1,100 industry organizations and over 4,000 individual chapter members are associated with CaGBC in designing, building, and operating green buildings and communities. With its advocacy for green building policies and education of over 45,000 green professionals, CaGBC has been able to retrofit thousands of commercial and government buildings, schools, homes, and community centers to meet the green building standards.
