The VMware engineer is an expert in virtualized infrastructure who designs, implements, and maintains VMware-based systems. They are accountable for installing and configuring software, troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring overall system stability.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain virtual infrastructure based on VMware technologies
- Install, configure, and upgrade VMware vSphere and related components
- Provide technical support to internal customers for all VMware-related technologies
- Create and maintain documentation for VMware infrastructure and operational procedures
- Monitor and troubleshoot VMware infrastructure and performance issues
- Work closely with other IT teams to integrate VMware infrastructure with other technologies
- Research and evaluate new VMware products and technologies and make recommendations for improvement
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide support for critical issues outside of business hours
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in VMware engineering
- In-depth knowledge of VMware vSphere and related technologies
- Ability to design, implement, and maintain virtualization solutions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with VMware automation and scripting languages, such as PowerCLI and Python
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with VMware vSAN and NSX is a plus
- VMware certifications, such as VCP or VCAP, are highly desirable
