The upholster profession requires individuals with craftmanship skills to repair, restore, and create upholstered furniture. Responsibilities include fabric selection, cushioning and padding installation, sewing, and using tools and techniques to beautify furniture pieces.

Responsibilities:

  • Measure and cut fabrics or leather to the desired size and shape
  • Attach foam or padding to the furniture frame using staples, tacks, or glue
  • Install springs, webbing, or other support systems in furniture
  • Stretch fabric or leather over the furniture frame and attach it securely
  • Create and attach decorative elements such as buttons, tufting, or fringes
  • Inspect finished products for quality and adjust as necessary
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Collaborate with designers and other team members to ensure customer satisfaction

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an upholsterer or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of upholstery techniques and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or design specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools
  • Physical dexterity and strength to maneuver heavy furniture
  • Good communication skills to interact with clients and team members
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
