A Trainee Gardener assists in maintaining and developing gardens, learning horticultural methods and techniques. Responsibilities include planting, pruning, watering, and general garden care under expert supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planting and maintaining various types of vegetation
- Help with pruning and trimming trees, shrubs and flowers
- Assist in mowing, edging and fertilizing lawns
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems
- Assist in the removal of weeds and unwanted vegetation
- Help with the maintenance of gardening tools and equipment
- Assist in the planning and design of garden layouts
Requirements:
- Must have a passion for gardening and a desire to learn and develop new skills.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy bags of soil and digging holes.
- Must be able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of basic gardening tools and techniques is preferable but not essential.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays when required.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact with clients in a friendly and professional manner.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high standard of workmanship.
