Train Conductors manage the operations and safety of trains. Responsibilities include coordinating activities of train crew, inspecting equipment, and ensuring adherence to regulations. Tasks involve ticket verification, passenger assistance, and communication with control centers.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe and timely movement of trains along designated routes
  • Operate and control train speed and movement, following signals and regulations
  • Monitor gauges, dials, and other instruments to ensure proper functioning of the train
  • Communicate with dispatchers and other crew members to receive and relay information
  • Inspect and maintain equipment, including brakes, couplings, and air lines
  • Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of passengers and crew
  • Provide excellent customer service to passengers, including answering questions and addressing concerns
  • Complete required paperwork and log books accurately and thoroughly

Requirements:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with other train personnel and dispatchers.
  • Must have a strong sense of and safety awareness.
  • Must be able to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position, including climbing ladders and operating heavy equipment.
  • Must have prior experience in a transportation or logistics field, preferred.
