Responsibilities:

  • Inspect railroad tracks, bridges, and tunnels for any damage, defects, or other safety hazards
  • Measure and record track wear and other track-related data using various tools and equipment
  • Maintain and repair tracks, switches, and other related components as needed
  • Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, and trackhoes to repair and maintain tracks
  • Follow safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment
  • Collaborate with other trackmen and train crews to ensure efficient and effective rail operations
  • Report any issues or problems with tracks or equipment to appropriate personnel
  • Keep records of maintenance and repairs performed on tracks and related components

Requirements:

  • The candidate must have experience working on railroads or in a similar field.
  • The candidate must be able to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • The candidate must have a strong attention to detail and be able to accurately record and report data.
  • The candidate must be physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • The candidate must have good communication skills and be able to work effectively with a team.
  • The candidate must be able to operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment.
  • The candidate must be willing to work flexible hours and be available for on-call work if required.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for transportation to job sites.
