Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed drawings and specifications for structures based on architectural and engineering plans
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce and modify drawings
  • Ensure compliance with industry and safety standards in all designs
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings
  • Review and modify drawings to correct errors and incorporate new information
  • Communicate with clients and contractors to ensure designs meet their needs and specifications
  • Keep up-to-date with new design software and techniques to continually improve skills and knowledge
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior drafters and colleagues as needed

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD and Revit
  • Knowledge of structural design principles and building codes
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting
  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as SketchUp or Rhino
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with architects and engineers
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Associate degree or certificate in drafting or a related field, or equivalent work experience
