Responsibilities:
- Create detailed drawings and specifications for structures based on architectural and engineering plans
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce and modify drawings
- Ensure compliance with industry and safety standards in all designs
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings
- Review and modify drawings to correct errors and incorporate new information
- Communicate with clients and contractors to ensure designs meet their needs and specifications
- Keep up-to-date with new design software and techniques to continually improve skills and knowledge
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior drafters and colleagues as needed
Requirements:
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD and Revit
- Knowledge of structural design principles and building codes
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as SketchUp or Rhino
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with architects and engineers
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Associate degree or certificate in drafting or a related field, or equivalent work experience
