Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces of ships for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, and removing old paint
  • Apply paint or other finishes to ships using a variety of methods, including brushes, rollers, and spray guns
  • Mix and match paint colors to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Ensure that all painting work meets safety and environmental regulations
  • Inspect surfaces and finished work to ensure a high-quality paint job
  • Use equipment and tools such as scaffolding, ladders, and power sanders safely and correctly
  • Assist with other tasks as needed, such as cleaning work areas and maintaining equipment
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure that work is completed efficiently and to a high standard

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in shipyard painting or related field
  • Ability to prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, scraping, and cleaning
  • Familiarity with various types of paint and coatings, as well as their application methods
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to painting and hazardous materials
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
