A Second Steward oversees the maintenance of a ship's interior, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness. Responsibilities include supervising the stewarding team, managing inventory, and coordinating with the culinary department.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure cleanliness of assigned areas, including cabins, bathrooms, and public spaces
  • Assist with meal service, including setting tables, serving food, and clearing dishes
  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and linens, and notify senior staff when items need to be restocked
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests, including responding to requests and addressing any concerns
  • Assist with laundry service, including washing, drying, and folding linens and guest clothing
  • Assist with safety procedures, including conducting safety drills and maintaining safety equipment
  • Assist with the organization and execution of onboard events and activities
  • Work collaboratively with other crew members to ensure a smooth and enjoyable guest experience

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a second steward or in a similar position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and crew members.
  • Proficient in housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry, and organization.
  • Ability to manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain a budget for the department.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of guests and crew members.
  • Familiarity with fine dining service and table setting to assist the chief steward during meal service.
  • Flexibility to work long hours and adapt to changes in schedule or duties as needed.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in all areas of responsibility.
