Plasterers apply coats of plaster to interior walls, ceilings, and partitions of buildings to produce finished surfaces, according to blueprints, architect's drawings, or oral instructions. Responsibilities include creating decorative textures and providing sound and fire-resistant surfaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces for plastering by cleaning and removing old plaster
  • Apply and smooth out plaster to create a finished surface
  • Shape corners and edges to create a polished look
  • Use tools such as trowels and floats to spread and shape plaster
  • Measure and mix plaster and other materials to the correct consistency
  • Ensure work area is clean and safe
  • Follow health and safety guidelines and regulations
  • Communicate with other tradespeople and contractors as needed

Requirements:

  • Must have experience in applying plaster on walls and ceilings
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings to determine the scope of work and materials required
  • Knowledge of different types of plaster and their applications
  • Ability to mix and apply plaster to achieve desired texture and finish
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods of time
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with other tradespeople and project managers
  • Must have own tools and equipment, or be willing to acquire them
