A planning forester is responsible for managing and overseeing the planning and implementation of forestry projects. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement forest management plans to achieve production and conservation objectives

- Design and supervise operational activities, such as harvesting and site preparation, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and management objectives
- Monitor timber sales and contracts to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to optimize financial returns
- Provide technical advice and support to other departments and stakeholders on forest management issues
- Conduct research and collect data to inform forest management decisions and improve practices
- Develop budgets and manage expenditures to ensure effective use of resources
- Collaborate with other professionals and organizations to advance forest management practices and achieve common goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resources, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in forest planning, inventory, and management
- Strong knowledge of forest ecology, silviculture, and forest management practices
- Proficiency in GIS, remote sensing, and other forest inventory and mapping tools
- Ability to work independently and in a team, and to communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work in remote locations and varied weather conditions
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently for fieldwork
