A pipefitter welder is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems. They skillfully perform welding and brazing procedures to join pipes and fabricate parts. Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine layout and installation procedures.
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting, threading, and welding.
- Cut, thread, and bend pipes using hand and power tools or machines.
- Install and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications.
- Inspect and test installed systems and pipelines for leaks and malfunctions.
- Repair or replace damaged or defective pipes and equipment.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as electricians and HVAC technicians, to complete projects.
- Adhere to safety standards and regulations while working on job sites.
Requirements:
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have completed a pipefitter or welding apprenticeship program
- Be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
- Have experience with various welding techniques such as TIG, MIG, and stick welding
- Possess knowledge of various pipe materials such as steel, copper, and PVC
- Be able to operate and maintain welding equipment and tools
- Have good physical dexterity and be able to work in confined spaces and at heights
- Possess good communication skills and work well in a team environment
