A Parent Aide assists families in crisis, providing guidance on parenting skills, child development, and family management. Responsibilities include home visits, monitoring interactions, and coordinating with social services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support and guidance to parents/caregivers in a non-judgmental and empathetic manner
- Assist parents/caregivers in creating and maintaining a safe and stable home environment
- Teach parenting skills and techniques to improve family dynamics and promote positive behavior in children
- Work collaboratively with other professionals involved in the family's care, such as social workers and therapists
- Assess family needs and develop individualized plans to address those needs
- Document client progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with agency policies and procedures
- Attend regular training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards of conduct in all interactions with clients and colleagues
Requirements:
- Must have experience working with children and families
- Ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of families
- Must be able to work independently and also as part of a team
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
