Orchard Workers maintain the health and productivity of fruit trees. Responsibilities include planting, pruning, fertilizing, and harvesting crops, as well as monitoring for disease and pests. Expertise in horticulture and physical stamina required.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain orchard equipment such as tractors, mowers, and sprayers
- Prune and thin trees using hand tools and ladders
- Harvest fruit by hand or using mechanical harvesters
- Sort and pack fruit according to size, color, and quality standards
- Monitor and manage irrigation systems
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as necessary
- Keep accurate records of work performed and fruit harvested
- Assist with general maintenance and cleanup of the orchard
Requirements:
- Physical fitness and stamina to work long hours outdoors in various weather conditions
- Experience with manual labor, such as pruning, planting, and harvesting fruit trees
- Ability to operate and maintain various types of equipment, including tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems
- Knowledge of pest and disease management techniques and safety procedures
- Capability to work independently or as part of a team, following instructions and demonstrating good communication skills
