A Maçon executes construction projects by building, repairing, and maintaining structures. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, mixing mortar, and laying bricks or stones with precision. Expertise in masonry tools and techniques is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout requirements of the construction site.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
  • Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units.
  • Mix mortar and grout according to the specifications to ensure the consistency of the mixture.
  • Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to size using hand and power tools.
  • Install structural and decorative masonry materials, including fireplaces, chimneys, walls, and arches.
  • Ensure the compliance with building codes and safety regulations for construction work.
  • Maintain and clean the tools, equipment and work area to ensure the safety and efficiency of the construction site.

Requirements:

  • Experience in construction and masonry work
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Knowledge of various tools and equipment used in masonry work
  • Physical dexterity and strength for lifting heavy materials and working in various positions
