As a junior sous chef, you will assist the head chef in preparing and cooking high-quality dishes while ensuring that all food safety and hygiene standards are met. You will also supervise and train other kitchen staff, manage inventory, and work collaboratively with the rest of the team to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation. At least 2 years of culinary experience and a passion for food are required for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head chef in the preparation of meals
- Supervise the kitchen staff in their assigned tasks
- Ensure that food is prepared and presented in a timely manner
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in good working order and report any issues to the head chef
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the head chef when supplies are running low
- Ensure that food safety and hygiene standards are followed at all times
- Collaborate with the head chef to create new dishes and menus
- Train new kitchen staff members and provide ongoing training to existing staff
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience as a line cook or similar position
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with co-workers
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
