An Iron Worker Apprentice assists in constructing and repairing structures made of iron or steel. Responsibilities include cutting, positioning, and bolting iron or steel bars, learning safety protocols, and mastering welding techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation and dismantling of structural steel components
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently
- Measure and cut materials to specified lengths, using hand or power tools
- Assist in the layout and assembly of steel structures and reinforce concrete
- Ensure that safety procedures and regulations are followed at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Attend training sessions and complete on-the-job training requirements
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow
Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Physically fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced iron workers
- Basic knowledge of welding and metal fabrication
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
