Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for walking horses to help them cool down after exercise or competition
  • Feeds and waters horses as needed
  • Monitors horses for signs of injury or illness and reports to the trainer or veterinarian
  • Cleans and maintains equipment, including saddles, bridles, and halters
  • Assists with grooming horses, including brushing, washing, and cleaning hooves
  • Keeps track of horses' exercise routines and reports any changes or concerns to the trainer
  • Follows safety protocols and procedures when working with horses
  • May be required to assist with other tasks related to horse care and stable management

Requirements:

  • Must have experience working with horses
  • Ability to communicate effectively with trainers and other staff
  • Physically fit and able to walk for long periods of time
  • Knowledge of horse grooming and basic health care
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Flexibility to work early mornings and weekends
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify subtle changes in horse behavior
