A Glazer meticulously cuts, installs, and removes glass or glass substitutes in buildings, skylights, store fronts, and display cases, or on surfaces such as building fronts, interior walls, and tabletops. Precision and safety are paramount.

Responsibilities:

  • Measure and mark glass and mirrors to specific dimensions and shapes
  • Cut glass or mirrors using a glass cutter or computerized cutting equipment
  • Smooth rough edges of glass or mirrors using belt sanders, smoothing wheels, or other tools
  • Install glass or mirrors in frames, windows, doors, and other fixtures using clips, moldings, or other types of fasteners
  • Apply putty, rubber gaskets, or other sealants to secure glass in place
  • Create decorative glass features such as beveled edges, etched designs, or stained glass
  • Repair or replace broken or damaged glass or mirrors in various settings
  • Operate and maintain equipment and tools used in glass and mirror installation and repair

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately
  • Experience in handling and cutting glass to precise specifications
  • Proficient in using a variety of tools and equipment, including glass cutters, drills, and grinders
  • Knowledge of different types of glass and their properties, as well as the ability to recommend appropriate glass for specific projects
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, following safety protocols and guidelines
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in measurements and cuts
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, able to work with clients and contractors to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to stand, bend, and lift heavy glass sheets for extended periods of time
