Freight Unloaders manage the receipt and dispatch of goods in a warehouse. They handle tasks such as unloading freight from trucks, verifying contents against shipping invoices, and organizing warehouse inventory.
Responsibilities:
- Unload cargo from trucks or shipping containers
- Sort and organize freight based on destination
- Use equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move and stack freight
- Ensure that all freight is handled safely and efficiently
- Check for damages or discrepancies in freight and report any issues to supervisors
- Assist with loading and securing freight onto trucks and shipping containers
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work collaboratively with other team members to meet productivity and efficiency goals
Requirements:
- Physical endurance and strength to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in unloading and sorting freight
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity targets
- Flexibility in working hours as freight unloading may occur during early morning or late night shifts
- Capability to work in a team and communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors
- Prior experience in a similar role is preferred
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and follow instructions from superiors
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification is required
