Responsible for supporting drilling operations, a floorhand is a crucial member of an oil rig team. Tasks include operating equipment, setting up rig components, inspecting machinery, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Frequently inspect and maintain equipment and tools in good working condition
- Assist in rigging up and down of drilling equipment and machinery
- Assist in the loading and offloading of supplies and equipment
- Assist in the mixing and preparation of drilling mud and chemicals
- Clean and maintain the work area and equipment after use
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations at all times
- Assist in the training and mentoring of new crew members
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements:
- Physically fit and able to work long hours on their feet
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures and regulations
- Familiarity with the use of hand and power tools
- Willingness to work on offshore drilling rigs or other remote locations
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Previous experience in a similar role or industry is preferred
