An educational audiologist is a specialized professional who works with students with hearing impairments to ensure they receive the best possible education. Responsibilities:
- Conduct hearing assessments and screenings for students
- Collaborate with teachers and other education professionals to develop appropriate accommodations for students with hearing loss
- Provide individualized support and counseling for students with hearing loss and their families
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing loss
- Provide training and education to teachers and other education professionals on hearing loss and accommodations
- Stay up-to-date on the latest audiology research and technology
- Collaborate with medical professionals to ensure that students with hearing loss are receiving appropriate medical care
- Advocate for students with hearing loss and their families to ensure that they have access to necessary resources and accommodations
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Audiology or related field
- State licensure as an Audiologist
- Certification in Educational Audiology
- Experience working with children and adolescents
- Knowledge of assistive listening technology
- Ability to perform hearing assessments and interpret results
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
