A dump truck driver operates a large truck with an open bed for transporting loose materials such as dirt, sand, gravel, or construction debris to and from construction sites, mines, or other locations. They must have a commercial driver's license and be able to follow safety regulations and protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and drive dump trucks to transport materials such as sand, gravel, dirt, and debris
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating the vehicle
  • Perform daily maintenance checks and report any issues or malfunctions to the supervisor
  • Load and unload materials using the truck's hydraulic system or by hand
  • Ensure that the load is securely fastened and balanced before transporting it
  • Keep accurate records of materials transported, distances traveled, and fuel consumption
  • Communicate effectively with other drivers, supervisors, and site personnel regarding transportation schedules and load requirements

Requirements:

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record
  • Experience driving large vehicles, preferably dump trucks
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery, including hydraulic lifts and dump beds
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to truck driving and heavy equipment operation
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well with others, including construction crew members and supervisors
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor, including loading and unloading materials
  • Flexibility with scheduling and availability to work weekends and holidays, as needed
