The role of a Demi Chef involves assisting in the kitchen alongside the Executive Chef and Sous Chef. They are responsible for preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals. Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate culinary skills and techniques in the preparation and presentation of food
- Assist the head chef and sous chef in developing new menu items
- Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation meet the restaurant's standards
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff
- Monitor and maintain kitchen inventory, including food, supplies, and equipment
- Follow and enforce all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Collaborate with the rest of the kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient operation
- Assist with the management of food costs by minimizing waste and utilizing leftovers effectively
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Demi Chef or similar role
- Knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen equipment
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Creativity and ability to develop new dishes
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
