Craft professions are skilled trades that require a high level of expertise and experience, often passed down through generations. These professions include carpentry, welding, plumbing, and electrical work, among others. Craft professionals play a crucial role in building and maintaining infrastructure and buildings.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect workpieces for defects and to ensure conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and work orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operations.
  • Select and set cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with different types of materials, such as wood, metal, and fabrics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
  • Knowledge of different crafting techniques, including sewing, welding, and carving
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work
