A Couvreur specializes in roof construction and maintenance. Responsibilities encompass installing, repairing, and replacing roofs using a variety of materials. Tasks include waterproofing, insulation, and ensuring structural integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect roofs to determine the best repair procedures
- Measure and cut roofing materials to fit around vents, chimney edges, and valleys
- Install vapor barriers and layers of insulation
- Align roofing materials with edges of the roof
- Replace damaged or rotting decking boards
- Install, repair, or replace single-ply roofing systems using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric, or other asphaltic compositions
- Cover roofs and exterior walls of structures with slate, asphalt, aluminum, wood, gravel, gypsum, and/or related materials, using brushes, knives, punches, hammers, and other tools
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in roofing
- Must be able to work at heights and in various weather conditions
- Should have knowledge of different roofing materials and techniques
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Should possess physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and work for long hours
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team
- Should have good communication skills to interact with clients and team members
- Must adhere to safety guidelines and protocols at all times
